Event Description

The Sugar Lift Etching process results in finished prints that have the spontaneity of a brush or pen drawing. In this two-day workshop we will be using zinc and copper plates we will create images with the strong graphic statement possibilities of open-bite and aquatint sugar lift plates. This direct method is a good starting point for exploring the painterly and sculptural qualities of etching. Emphasizing contrast and textural patterns, we will print with colours as well as black and white, and practice the inking and wiping methods that best reveal the rich graphics of the medium. The course is taught by Alain Costaz and is limited to 8 participants. Please $30 pre-register fee is required so emailing us at [email protected] or phone us at 250-382-2186 . The course is $225 for members and $245 for non-members.
