ECO-THREADS FASHION SHOW
Repurposed & Upcycled Locally Handcrafted Fashion
The Coast Collective Art Centre is proud to be hosting a lively and unique fashion show with an eco-friendly twist! Re-purposed items are “Upcycled” into remarkable new fashion designs. Models will display the graceful and intriguing wearable art pieces that have been transformed from what would otherwise become landfill waste.
Colwood (Victoria), BC., Coast Collective Art Centre, July 7th, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. A showcase of locally handcrafted fashion using repurposed materials.
Live models will strut the runway to showcase the dynamic creations of local designers. “Upcycling”, also known as creative reuse, is a fast-growing, environmentally-friendly process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products. The ECO-THREADS FASHION SHOW will give event attendees the opportunity to mix and mingle while they witness how discarded materials are given a remarkable and dazzling second life. All fashions are produced by local artists. The event is free-of-charge to the public, and all attendees can enter the door-prize draw to win a gallery print.
This exciting fashion show runs in tandem with the Eco-Threads Gallery Exhibition, on display in the Coast Collective Gallery from June 28th to July 9th. This show is a unique collaboration with the Vancouver Island Surface Design Association. The ECO THREADS Exhibition also coincides with the Northwest Association of Weavers’ Conference June 28 to July 2 at the University of Victoria, which is expected to attract over 500 people, where the Coast Collective Art Centre is featured as part of the self-guided gallery tour.
