Event Description

Travel back in time to the Victorian era at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum. On Saturdays at 2:00, experience life in early settler Victoria as you tour our restored 1865 heritage home. From silkscreened wallpaper to hand-stitched quilts and painted oilcloths, each detail has been chosen to reflect the life of the original inhabitants. This entirely volunteer-restored and owned historic site was home to the Roscoe family from 1865-1879, and is one of only a dozen houses from the 1860s that still exists in Victoria. Francis Roscoe was a hardware merchant and a Member of Parliament after Confederation. He and his wife Anna Letitia created a happy home with their five children at the Villa until Francis’ death in 1878 and his family’s return to England.

Since the year 2000, the Villa has been painstakingly restored by a team of volunteers and is now owned and managed by the Ross Bay Villa Society. The address is 1490 Fairfield Road, across from Ross Bay Cemetery.
Take a tour of the Villa any Saturday at 2:00 PM for a $5 cash donation to the restoration and maintenance of this Victorian home.
