Kathy has lived a creative life from the beginning. When she won a prize in grade three for handwriting using the Sheaffer cartridge pen, her love affair with the alphabet began. She remembers drawing bowls of fruit and wine bottles with dripping candle wax using oil pastels on big sheets of newsprint in Mrs. McEwen's art studio. Her favourite rainy day activity was designing and hand-sewing clothes for her Midge doll. As a teen she was smitten with the newly invented felt pen and the clean graphic line drawings she made. Later she was seduced by pretty papers for collage and then printmaking stole her heart. All these creative adventures are now inspiration for her exploration with personal memory in her mixed media paintings. Clearly Kathy loves making art!
