About

Chad Johnston

Chad Johnston is a contemporary realist painter and photographer. He has studied at the Art Student's League and New York Art Academy in New York and at Studio Escalier and the Louvre in Paris. He has lived and worked in London, New York and Paris and has recently settled in Sooke, BC. He predominantly works in oil on canvas and combines classical academic drawing methods with modern, expressive brushwork. Influenced by Freud, Giacometti and Kanevsky, he uses the human figure to explore the boundaries between integration and disintegration, order and chaos, presence and absence.
