Green Art: Sharing Sustainable Approaches and Practices Entry Call

Green Art: Sharing Sustainable Approaches and Practices Entry Call

Posted by: ArtsVictoria.ca
The Langley Centennial Museum invites applications for this upcoming juried exhibition. The exhibition will dive into the sustainable art movement, providing a platform for community members to share their artistic approaches to Green Art.

The creation of Green Art emphasizes two main ideas:

§ repurposing materials that would otherwise be discarded after their intended use-life; and

§ mindfully choosing materials and using equipment that is more environmentally friendly (e.g., plant-based paints/pigments, limiting use of power tools/energy consumption).

We want to engage community members of all ages to learn different ways of using and viewing ‘old’ or ‘used’ items from households, workplaces, and businesses.

This exhibition intends to inspire the public to repurpose items and materials in unique and meaningful ways, while limiting the consumption of items of convenience: newer is not always better.

Submission Requirements

§ Works may be in one or multiple materials and two or three dimensional in nature.

§ A minimum of 75% of each submission must be created from ‘green’/repurposed materials.

§ Each applicant may submit a maximum of three works for consideration.

§ Complete the application form (available at https://museum.tol.ca/museum/Portal/connect.aspx?lang=en-CA&p_AAAH=tab6 ; Connect page; Artist Calls & Project Updates tab), which includes:

§ Your interest in the project.

§ A short bio.

§ Brief descriptions and images of your submissions.

A variety of awards will be determined by the jury. While the Langley Centennial Museum may accept up to three works from each applicant, not all work submitted will be chosen for inclusion in the exhibition.

Deadline: Mailed, emailed, or hard copy applications are due by 4 pm on January 29, 2022. For more information please contact 604.532.3536 or email [email protected].
