The Langley Centennial Museum invites applications for this upcoming juried exhibition. The exhibition will dive into the sustainable art movement, providing a platform for community members to share their artistic approaches to Green Art.
The creation of Green Art emphasizes two main ideas:
§ repurposing materials that would otherwise be discarded after their intended use-life; and
§ mindfully choosing materials and using equipment that is more environmentally friendly (e.g., plant-based paints/pigments, limiting use of power tools/energy consumption).
We want to engage community members of all ages to learn different ways of using and viewing ‘old’ or ‘used’ items from households, workplaces, and businesses.
This exhibition intends to inspire the public to repurpose items and materials in unique and meaningful ways, while limiting the consumption of items of convenience: newer is not always better.
