The Emerging Indigenous Music Industry Professionals program is intended for Indigenous professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to working in the B.C. music industry as administrators, managers, promoters, directors, agents, event organizers or presenters. Applicants will have completed basic training in their field (post-secondary education or other training/experience) and have a demonstrated commitment to advancing within the B.C. music industry.
Indigenous Music Initiative programs are meant to assist Indigenous music industry professionals to:
Increase their skills and knowledge through advanced mentorship and training
Gain experience in their chosen area(s) of focus within the music industry
Strengthen professional relationships and enhancing recognition within the B.C. music industry
Create new business opportunities in B.C. and elsewhere
Applicants can:
Propose short-term mentorship or internship opportunities that will contribute to their specific professional development goals by positioning them to gain experience, skills and knowledge and build relationships, or
Arrange a mentorship/internship with a qualified music industry professional, organization or event in any location that will provide a specific arts administration mentorship/internship, or
Arrange a structured relationship with a qualified professional who will provide a specific music industry mentorship, at a distance and through organized communications, while the applicant is working with an existing community-based organization.
This program supports applicants with Indigenous ancestry, which includes First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. Registered Indian Status is not required. Applicants must be residents of B.C.
