Entry deadline: Wednesday, March 7th
Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture is proud to announce the 19th semi-annual Oak Bay Artists’ Studio Tour taking place Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, from 12pm to 4:30pm. Many of Oak Bay's established and emerging artists will use their homes and studios as backdrops to display original watercolour, acrylic, and oil paintings, fibre, photography, woodcuts, glass, and pottery creations. The tour is juried and produced by Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture.
Oak Bay artists willing to open up their studios for a few hours during this weekend in April are encouraged to apply. “We have heard from many of the previous participants who are looking forward to this juried event again, but we always want to find new studios in Oak Bay,” said Mary Kucera, of Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture marketing.
For those artists whose homes are not well suited to a studio tour, there is an option to apply to use a shared space in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre (adjacent to Oak Bay High School) to display artwork during the tour. Please contact the Arts & Culture Programmer at
[email protected] for more information about displaying at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre.
The Studio Tour is a great way to showcase Oak Bay's many talented artists. If you are an artist in Oak Bay who would like to be involved, fill out an application at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, 1975 Bee St, or online at recreation.oakbay.ca submit by Wednesday, March 7th. There is a $45 registration fee which goes towards advertising and promotion.
This two-day special event is free to the public. Brochures with artist images, descriptions, and a tour map will be available at recreation.oakbay.ca early in April. Brochures will also be available at the Oak Bay Recreation Centres, Oak Bay Municipal Hall, and the Oak Bay Library as well as at local businesses and through participating artists prior to the show.
