the West Shore Arts Council, in partnership with M’akola Housing Society, invites proposals for artist instruction for the:
Family Art Studio
a family-friendly art-making series
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists residing in the West Shore communities, age 18 or older.
Proposal Entry Deadline: Monday, July 24, 2017 at 5:00 pm.
Artists will be notified via email by Friday, July 28, 2017 at 5:00 pm.
Workshops to be held on August 16th and 22nd, 2017 at 3:30 pm.
EVENT DETAILS: Family Art Studio is a family-friendly art-making series with an aim to bring families together through creative and collaborative art-making. This two-part workshop series is designed for M’akola tenants, who are primarily Aboriginal people and families.
Each workshop will accommodate 35-40 tenants. The art project must be designed as a collaborative activity for families. All material costs will be covered by the WSAC and MHS. These events will be held in a sheltered outdoor area in August 2017. The outdoor conditions must be considered when submitting a proposal for the art-making project.
SUBMISSION PROPOSAL: Artists are invited to submit an email indicating interest to instruct one, or a series of two, art-making workshops.
Email of Interest must include:
1) Information Sheet: Artist name, email address, mailing address, phone number.
2) Project Suggestion(s): Provide one or two concepts for the collaborative art-making project (including materials list), and outline how the workshop will unfold. Include considerations for the outdoor setting.
3) Artist Details: A brief biographical statement and CV (highlighting recent studio practice and teaching experience).
The selected artist(s) will be granted an honorarium for their instruction.
PUBLICITY: Photographs will be taken at the workshops. These images may be featured on the West Shore Arts Council website and on social media. There may also be a feature in the Goldstream News Gazette and in the West Shore Arts Council newsletter. Credit will be given to the artist-instructor.
