The Integrate Art Society is currently considering submissions from artists working in all media for the 11th Annual Integrate Arts Festival, which will take place from August 25th to 27th 2017, in Victoria BC.
The Integrate Arts Society values diversity and strongly encourages submissions from Indigenous artists, queer artists, artists from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and artists with different abilities. Preference will be given to emerging artists: those with unique and exciting work but without major gallery representation.
We are looking for all artists including, but not limited to: 2D, sculpture, installation, performance, video, improv groups, mural artists, chalk masters, yarn bombers, pop-up galleries, slam poets, bands and other unique performances.
The Integrate Art Society is dedicated to enhancing the provincial and national awareness of Victoria’s thriving arts community. Through the Integrate Arts Festival, the Integrate Art Society will develop a unified creative collective comprised of local artists, museums, artist-run centres and public and commercial art galleries. The Festival will bring together theatre companies, dance troupes, musical ensembles, and visual artists. This year's festival will include an opening reception, a mass art crawl, independent artist exhibitions, indoor and outdoor performances, and daytime arts activities spanning three days.
Eligibility:
All artists must be residents of Victoria, BC or surrounding regions and must be 18 years of age or older.
Application Process:
Interested artists must complete the online application form below.
Selection:
Artists will be selected by members of the Integrate Arts Society based on their body of work. New artworks and projects are therefore encouraged. Preference will be given to emerging and underrepresented artists. Accepted artists will choose which pieces they would like displayed at the Festival.
Acceptance:
Artists will be notified by June 12th, 2017 through email. A $15.00 deposit will be requested from accepted artists, to be refunded back at the end of the Festival. This deposit will be used by the Festival committee for associated planning arrangements. Artists will receive a $150 honorarium after the completion of the Festival.
Exhibition Details:
- The main artists’ exhibition will be held at the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria Gallery at 636 Fort Street, Victoria, BC, V8W 3V2. Other spaces may also be available based on the artist’s needs and flexibility.
- Location of performances will be based on artist’s proposal. Official duration of the exhibition is August 25-27, 2017. There is a three piece maximum for artworks. 3-D pieces must be under 8ft tall.
- Artists will be allowed to sell work on site, so we encourage you to submit works in a variety of sizes and to bring high quality prints of your works. All pieces and merchandise sold are subject to a 25% commission fee.
- Artists are also encouraged to bring printed items promoting their works and/or practice, such as business cards.
- There will be an opportunity for artist demonstrations, workshops, and artist talks. Please identify your interest on the application form.
- Exhibition details may be subject to change. If this occurs, any changes will be relayed to artists with sufficient notice prior to the Festival.
Artist Responsibilities:
- Artists are responsible for the transportation, drop-off, and pick-up of their works. For work drop-off, artist intake will be on an evening in the week prior to the Festival, and pick-up of unsold works to be the evening of the Festival end date. As the Festival relies on donated space, short-term or long-term storage is not available on site.
- All works must be wired, labelled, priced and ready to hang.
- Artists will need to provide their own insurance, if desired.
- The opening reception will be held on Friday, August 25, 7:00-10:30 p.m. Artists are encouraged to be present at this event.
