Event Description

Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki will be at the Vic Theatre on Saturday, May 30th for a discussion Q&A following a short screening, as part of his tour for his new book, 'Letters to My Grandchildren'.

The Vic is proud to host this accomplished Canadian for a rare opportunity to look at his past work, combined with his latest book. The screening of Windy Bay, that was produced by The Nature of Things in the early 1980s, is a topic that he still feels is important and relevant today.

“The Windy Bay story was broadcast in the middle of the battle over logging in Haida Gwaii. The film excited the greatest response to any story on the Nature of Things and played an important role in galvanizing Canada’s support for the Haida. The issues and perspectives in this great ecological success story serve as a model to be followed all over the world,” said Dr. David Suzuki.

This all-ages event will take place at 4:15PM on Saturday, May 30th, opening with the Windy Bay screening that will lead in to the discussion and Q&A session. Suzuki will finish the event with a book signing. Tickets to the event are $15 and the book can be purchased at the event for $27.95.

'Letters to My Grandchildren' combines advice with autobiographical stories that reflect wisdom and courage that are key to learning from the past and working towards the future.

Dr. David Suzuki is a scientist, broadcaster, author, and co-founder of the David Suzuki Foundation. For more information about the David Suzuki Foundation, visit www.davidsuzuki.org.
