Simple Upholstery Workshop

Simple Upholstery Workshop

Have you ever wanted to be able to reupholster your own dining chairs?

This 4 week course will give you an introduction to simple upholstery techniques, to revive your tired old furniture with your chosen fabrics. Our very talented and experienced upholsterer Miro [from Miro's Upholstery] will lead you through the process using traditional technique. Spanish born Miro was trained in traditional techniques during his early years in Europe. Miro previously taught upholstery at Camosun college in Victoria. This is a great way to learn upholstery without major investments in equipment such as a nail gun. You will leave with a gorgeous newly upholstered item, detailed instructions and the skills to revamp the rest of your home!

You’ll need to bring along your fabric, as well as a portable piece of furniture to upholster; a dining chair, ottoman or stool are all perfect. [Nothing too large or complicated please - this is a beginners course!] You should also bring magnetic tack hammer, wooden mallet, flat screwdriver, pliers or side-cutters, notebook and pen. Other tools are available in the studio such as scissors & tape measures. Upholstery tools can also be ordered from us with 2 weeks notice... Students are also encouraged to bring along a digital camera to document their project.

Please email a photo of your proposed project for approval
[[email protected]] or call 778.432.2294 to discuss your needs.

You are welcome to bring your own snacks in to the studio and tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided.

Class size is limited to 6-8 people to ensure plenty of personal instruction and ample hands-on practice time. Please note there are no makeup classes or refunds available for this series. Be sure your personal schedule allows for full attendance in advance of signing up.

Tuesdays November 3rd-24th - 2014 [6:30pm-9pm] - 10 hours in total
