The Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning and execution of CFUV’s annual week-long Funding Drive campaign happening in March of 2017. This will involve engaging with the campus and community and developing new fundraising and advertising strategies.

The Communications Coordinator will also maintain CFUV’s online social media accounts. They will design and launch social media campaigns to increase CFUV’s online reach and advertise our fundraising campaign. In addition, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for designing and launching CFUV’s new mailing list newsletter.

In many instances, the Communications Coordinator will be the first point of contact with local businesses, organizations and donors. They will work with the Station Manager to create Funding Drive materials and negotiate partnerships agreements.

This is a key position at the station as they will have the opportunity to assist with developing the station's branding and communications with the community and listenership.

Qualifications:

1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
2. Self-motivated and able to work independently
3. Experience with community development or fundraising a strong asset
4. Comfortable in a deadline-oriented environment
5. Outgoing and comfortable working with others
6. Willing to work flexible hours and some weekends

Principal Duties:

The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Station Manager and will also work with the Program Director and Coordinator of Volunteers.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

1. Liaising with Funding Drive donors.
2. Write and publish content on CFUV’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WordPress sites.
3. Designing Funding Drive partnership package materials.
4. Drafting Funding Drive donor letters.
5. Other duties as required.

Terms of Employment:

The Communications Coordinator is a Work Study position. The successful candidate must be approved through the UVic Work Study program.

Available Work Study hours: 340
Work Study wage: $11.00

The successful candidate can expect to work approximately 17.5 hours per week in January and April, with an increase to approximately 25 hours per week during February and March.

The anticipated start date for this position is January 9, 2017 and end date is April 28, 2017.

A criminal record review is required immediately upon hiring, at the employee’s expense, but upon a successful review the employee will be compensated for the criminal record review fee.
