Amethyst Dance Troupe

Amethyst Dance Troup was founded in the fall of 2012 and has grown to include 4 members: Caity Howes, Meghan Kelly, Sarah Wilson and Lauren Wills. With a strong background in belly dance, their unique style is a fusion of lyrical, modern, erotic, burlesque and jazz. Their choreographies and group pieces are created through a fully collaborative process. Their solo work, however, is heavily improvisational, allowing them to be adaptive to a wide variety of performance spaces and audiences. Over the past four years Amethyst has had the opportunity to perform professionally throughout the greater Victoria area including regular involvement in Lucky Bar’s monthly Blender Nights, non-profit fundraisers, private events and live music events. They have performed and taught workshops at Erotica Electronica as well as events for the local kink community; in 2013 they created a unique, hour-long production for Bass Camp Festival in Shawnigan Lake. Lauren and Sarah also operate Amethyst Dance & Fitness – a multidisciplinary dance, movement, fitness studio and art gallery in downtown Victoria. Passionate about building community, the troupe is always eager to teach workshops and share their love of movement and art with any audience.
